Developments by zone - Alvalade and Campo Grande

Alvalade and Campo Grande

These areas, mostly of a residential nature, were developed during the 1950s as an expansion area of Lisbon.

With easy access to any point in the city and to the exit routes of Lisbon, this is an area served by many shops and all types of public transport, amenities, and equipment, such as the major Portuguese public universities, public and private schools, libraries, playgrounds, and sports facilities.

Here we find the imposing architecture of the National Archives of Torre do Tombo, one of the oldest institutions in the country and that for the last 600 years has been the depository of documents that tell the history of Portugal. Among the several gardens, the Campo Grande Garden, which is the main landmark of this area and one of the ex-libris of a green Lisbon, stands out.
